PA's are required to complete 40 hours of CME per year with at least 20 hours being Category I. CME is calculated from registration date to expiration date. If you begin the process of annual registration and do not have enough CME hours, the executive director has the discretion of issuing a CME temporary license for 90 days following your expiration date to allow additional time to complete the hours. Colleges and universities have different policies regarding the amount of off-campus credit that may be earned. CME credit is designated on an hour-for-hour basis, ie, for every hour you spend in a CME activity, you receive 1 hour of CME credit. Calculating your CME hours, however, is not always simple. Many CME conferences include scheduled breaks, business meetings, and other activities that do not qualify as CME. These hours are deducted from the total CME hours you receive.

A PA may carry forward a maximum of 80 total excess CME credit hours (40 hours in each category) for up to two years.

Whether a course will be offered in a particular semester depends on many factors.
