A positive test does not mean that your child has TB. Your child will be referred to the RISE TB Clinic for a chest x-ray and further medical evaluation to determine if they need treatment. All care at the RISE clinic including tests (e.g. x-rays) and treatments (e.g. medications) are paid for by the Department of Health. The school nurse and the Department of Health staff will help arrange your appointments at the RISE clinic.

Each of the SAEP teachers has a web-based grade program. Both you and your student will receive a username and password. You can access this program at any point during the five-week program and for three weeks after. Results of state and national testing are one of several indicators of student achievement. For example, high school performance on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) in verbal and math continues at or above state and national averages. Math runs consistently above averages. In annual state testing, school results are compared to national "norms" on the Stanford 9 exam. School performances depend on many variables, including students’ primary language and socioeconomic background.

Candidates who participate in centralized Phase I testing (written tests) in Olympia are notified if they pass Phase I testing on the day of the test. Candidates that participate in decentralized Phase I testing, may need to wait a few days to be notified of the test results since the tests must be sent to Olympia to be scored. Candidates are notified if they pass Phase II (oral board) on the day of the test.

Results from AIM tests are sent to schools for distribution to parents. The personal report tells you how your child is achieving in English and Mathematics compared to: AIM parent reports also show student performance compared to national benchmarks for reading, writing and numeracy. National benchmarks represent the minimum acceptable standard below which students would be expected to have difficulty progressing satisfactorily at school.

All of our teachers are highly-skilled and many of have been teaching in their subject area for years in local private and public schools.

We encourage parents to brush their child’s teeth until about the age of 7 or 8. Young children do not have the manual dexterity to brush correctly and thoroughly. Brushing should occur two to three times a day by placing a soft-bristled brush at a 45 degree angle at the gum line. Gently brush in small circular motions on all surfaces of the teeth. Brush across the chewing surfaces, making sure the bristles are scrubbing the grooves and crevices.

The Government will issue a Child Trust Fund (CTF) voucher for each eligible child. The voucher will be sent automatically to the person claiming Child Benefit for the child. The Government will begin issuing CTF vouchers from January 2005. You will be able to open a CTF account once you receive your voucher.
